More Video Streaming Services: Gotuit Beta

Richard MacManus of Read/Write Web mentions a hot new streaming media website called Gotuit, which is currently in beta. I tried it out and have barely stopped listening, staying up way past my bedtime to enjoy a dozens of current music videos. They also offer news and sports clips and a variety of
short films.

Gotuit is miles ahead of other similar sites, streaming video content almost immediately, with high quality. Although I have noticed increasing cutouts, presumably as more people discover the site. It’s not like Internet TV sites such as ChannelChooser (warning: adult channels present); it comes across as more professional.

Like most web video services, you can save your favourites. This allows you to have your playlist mix, which you can alter later. You can do the same things for the short films. And while the site claims you can create your own film festival, I see no way to share your playlist yet - unlike Music Recommendation sites such as Pandora.

What I found, though, is that the current music selection on Gotuit probably will appeal more to an under-40 crowd. Also, while you can pause a video then continue, you cannot back up. However, this might be due to licensing reasons. Regardless, if you enjoy this type of website, you should check out Gotuit.

One smashing comment for this post.

[…] By the way, that’s just their name. You don’t need a wireless network to watch, as they’re really just an IPTV site, with some channels that are marked as broadcasting live. (I’ve got a wireless router connected to my cable Internet connection.) But what I saw, albeit from browsing really quickly, is a lousy interface for surfing that resets itself each time I click my country. Strike 1: bad interface design. Strike 2: lots of crappy, useless channels - sort of like digital cable but without the duplication. Strike 2 and a half: I wasn’t aware that I was subject to a trial viewing and had to sign up for a free 14 day trial. Sorry, but I didn’t see enough to impress me enough to take a few minutes. Channel Chooser as an IPTV site is a step better. (I talk about it in my review of GoTuit.) […]
