Having a Bluetooth-enabled headset can save your life, or at least your cell phone, from muggers in Jakarta, Indonesia. [via The Jakarta Post] Gee, I can remember when people would merely step aside from someone seemingly talking to themselves on their cell phone handsfree kit.
The Register UK thinks that laptops might someday eschew hard drives and go completely with SSD (Solid State Device) flash drives. Given that some compact flash drives handle 64Gb (albeit at $5,000), I don’t doubt that possibility. Sixty-four gigabytes is already 4 Gb more than my laptop’s drive.
Now if I could just win the lottery, I could buy a bunch of these 64 Gb, add a bunch of daisy-chained USB ports, and I’d have the world’s first SSD 1-terabyte memory grid. Only $80,000. Plus sales tax.
Adobe’s new photo management software, Lightroom, has just been released into beta. The software is designed to help organize large volumes of digital images, and to apply minor corrections.

Penalties include imprisonment of up to 20 years. This measure is part of the Child Protection Safety Act (PDF, 163 pgs, ~315 Kb). Source: [CNet News]
