Fight For Control of the Internet Continues

The struggle for control of the Internet DNS (Domain Name System) is still ongoing, with the US wanting to maintain control through ICANN. Meanwhile, European and Asian countries have been wanting to have a share. Here are some details of the current options, including possible privatization.

$50,000 Software Bounty For OpenID Online Identity Implementation

Software vendors are offering a $50,000 bounty program for up to ten software developers who sucessfully implement the OpenID 2.0 online identity system in their own open-source software.

Fujitsu PalmSecure Palm Sensor

Fujitsu has been working on their palm vein sensor/ reader for a couple of years now, with patents filed around 2002. They are currently testing their PalmSecure system in a number of places including Brazil.

The system is based on the biometric of vein configuration in the human palm - a configuration that Fujitsu believes to be unique in every person.

What Don’t You Want To Do Today?

For those of you running MS-Windows based computers, you may want to keep an eye open for the sake of your Internet connection. Microsoft decided that they’ll automatically upgrade your Microsoft web browser from IE 6 to the IE 7 version. Apparently that’s only if you visit the Windows Update Center, but if you don’t know about this, you might suddenly find your Internet connection slower.
