Internet TV Use To Increase
While watching TV on your computer via content downloaded from the Internet might mostly suck for most people at present, the number of subscibers is expected to increase twelve-fold by 2010. The resulting services revenues in 2010 is expected to exceed US$27 billion. [via CommsDesign]
I don’t know about you, but I’ve tried the closest thing to IPTV and unless you have a double -processor computer, a fast graphics card, at least 1 gigabyte of RAM memory (if not 2 or 4 Gb), a large monitor, and a very fast Internet connection, it’s a waste of time. In other words, forget about it on your laptop. And on a smartphone or PDA? Forget about it.
On the other hand, ultra highspeed broadband connections might start making their way into consumers homes not too many years from now. When they do, IPTV has the potential to displace regular TV broadcasting, HDTV or otherwise. Video-calling will also be more enjoyable.
