Skype Internet Telephony Software Banned In UAE, China
Skype is banned in countries like China and the UAE (United Arab Emirates) for various reasons. But that doesn’t mean citizens of those countries are not downloading the software anyways. In fact, in the UAE, people often have friends and family download Skype from elsewhere and email it to them. [via 21Talks]
It should be noted that there is other VoIP software which is allowed in the UAE, but VoIP is banned altogether in China. The Chinese government maintains a list of banned words and blocks websites that use any of the words. Since this is not possible with VoIP calls, my guess is that this is why VoIP services are banished altogether.
8 Gb Storage Capacity On New Samsung Mobile Phone
Samsung is now offering a mobile phone with 8 gigabytes of storage space, presumably the largest of any existing phone. The capacity would allow users to store up to 1600 4Mb MP3 music files or 20,000 still photos. As is often the case with new Korean products, the phone is not yet available outside of South Korea.
