Fonpods: Free Podcasts To Your Mobile Phones
Are you stuck not being able to listen to podcasts since you don’t have an iPod or an MP3 player? No need to worry. Fonpods which is currently in beta, lets you download all podcasts of your choice directly to your mobile phone for free.
For those of you who don’t know what podcasts are, it is basically an audio program which is in the digital form, so that you can download and listen to them on any media players that recognizes their format.
How do you use fonpods? Sign up for their service by providing your email address and your primary telephone no. They create an account and will email you a fonpod id with which you can login to their website and create your personal podcast program choices. You can even add RSS feeds or OPML lists to jumpstart the process. Now, all you have to do is call (712) 432-3030 and access your selection. (You can call from a different mobile number than the one you registered - provided you have your password - and there’s no software to download.)
Obviously, while their service might be free, you may need to pay for long-distance charges. (Unless you’ve managed to get VoIP working on your mobile phone, in which case your calls might be free, or at least cheaper than a regular long-distance call from your cell.)
I quickly went through their site and found that a lot of trusted sources like WSJ, NPR, CNN, ESPN, etc., are available for you to download. They have a variety of channels like Finance, Sports, Politics, Health, Comedy, etc., so that you have plenty of choice.
