Pinger: Voice Messaging + Email

Pinger is a California based mobile innovation company founded by former Handspring employees Greg Woock and Joe Sipher. They have developed a cool service to send your voice messages.

Sending voice messages have been around for a long time. But with Pinger, there is no need to call your friends. Using your mobile, you can send instant messages to your buddies. No ringing tone, it is sent as message. This is a great feature if you ask me, since unlike phone calls, where you need to attend to them, this lets you pick up your message at your convenience. Not just that. You can send voice messages to not just one but to any number of persons.

You can manage your account online. Their service is both carrier- and device-independent. So it doesn’t matter which mobile phone you have or which network. You can use them with any service provider.

They have opened the site up for beta testing of their services a few weeks back

How it works
Sign up with Pinger, create your contact list by adding your buddies. That’s it. Now all you have to do is call the Pinger number from your phone. Say for whom the message should be forwarded to, and speak your message.

Pinger lets you send your messages as email as well. Anybody who has access to emails will be able to listen to them. Otherwise, just register any phone numbers you plan to send messages to.

As of now, it is being offered as a free service with a limited number of messages.
