Will Regulation Of Corporate Blogs Affect Microsoft?
Jonathan Schwartz, Sun’s CEO in one of his blog posts ‘One Small Step for the Blogosphere… ‘ explains his proposal to the SEC commissioner, Christopher Cox regarding legalizing the corporate blogs as one of the channels to disclose materials, flash news and information related to the happenings within the corporate premises.
Cox in his reply to Schwartz’s post (see the comments section) has raised a question regarding the unambiguous methodologies through which the corporate would ensure non-exclusionary access to the information that will appear on corporate blogs, on acceptance of Regulation Fair Disclosure (Reg FD) through corporate blogs.
Mr. Lee Helper, a reader, has emphasized that the corporate blogs should stop posing restrictions on the data format and protocols used thereby promoting access to open source information to Internet surfers. He has also articulated that the corporate web logs should not be restricted access based on the browser being used by the Internet surfers while accessing the Reg FD information in the corporate blogs.
If SEC decides on allowing the disclosures in corporate blog sites, “would Microsoft be compelled to allow support to other browsers (in exclusive of the IE) for viewing the information on their corporate blog?” continues to remain as a moot question in this regard.
