You Tube looking to pay their contributors

You Tube, now owned by Google, have finally given in to the pressure placed on them by their rivals, who pay contributors a share of the advertising revenues. You Tube are now in the final stages of sorting out the legalities of doing the same for the members who place their videos on the You Tube site.

However You Tube are in some what of a spot of trouble as the likes of Fox are seeking to stop the uploading of clips that contain any of their programs, such as the Simpson’s and 24, not only are Fox looking to stop You Tube from showing these types of clips, they are also looking to You Tube to provide the details of the members who have uploaded the clips to the site. It is quite daunting to think that an innocent TV program clip, uploaded to You Tube because you think it is good or funny can come back to haunt you with a major Media company coming after you for breach of copyright.

So it will be difficult for You Tube to pay out a share of advertising revenues when the revenues are based on the viewing of copyrighted material, which is being heavily protected by the company that produced it in the first place.
