The sands of time

A long time ago, it was the method used to calculate time. The hour glass would have a certain amount of sand placed within a container that had two chambers, when up turned so the sand is in the top chamber the sand would trickle down until the sand in the top chamber has completely emptied into the lower chamber, this was the way time was calculated. It was simple and almost always correct, the time could be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of sand placed into the top chamber.

The hourglass is now back, but this time in digital format, the designer Pavel Balykin has come up with an intriguing yet futuristic looking combination of the old and the new, blending new products and technology with the science of the long and distant past

The watch design is completely revolutionary, the hour glass function can be used a timer and looks like an hour glass should, the design even incorporates the shape into the watch face. Then there are normal time settings, which are similar to what we are used to, yet the quirky design means that the numbers are on top of each other, rather than the normal besides each other.

The bracelet is made from a rubber type material while the watch casing is of a plastic construction, which enables the watch to be produced in a variable amount of colors and shades. This watch is classic demonstration of hour old technology can be used in a stylish manner to create a modern design, who would ever think of using an hour glass today, yet here it is and it will be used.
