The PC that fits into your car

Computers in cars or other vehicles have been around for years now, they help the smooth operation of some of the systems in the car and sometime there the ones that are built in to the dashboard of the car which give the driver and passengers information and entertainment, none have really been classed as a PC.

The Voom PC 2 made by Mini Box is something a little different to what we have seen before, sure there have been some, but nothing really like this one. Which has Mini-ITX motherboard, 1.5 GhZ processor, an integrated battery management system, VGA, S-Video, USB 2.0 (8 ports), Ethernet, PCMCIA type I and type II Card Bus interface for GPRS/WIFI and smart 5.1 audio, Fire wire, a slim (2.5 in) IDE adapter and a small form case.

The Mini Box Voom PC 2 connects to a LCD monitor, which can be fitted anywhere within the driving compartment of the vehicle, the monitors have a screen size from seven inches to ten and half inches and is operated via the touch screen sensors.

The system can use any operating system, but they do list Window and Linux in the text of the specifications, at a cost of around $399 just for the basic system, not the monitor or anything else, the cost of a total installation can rise up very quickly if not looked into very carefully and of course that you intend to keep the same vehicle for some time.

There are as you can imagine quite a few features, but one of the more valuable features is the one which concerns power, the system will such done should the battery power of the car fall below a certain amount of volts, around eleven and a half volts, this means that battery power will be conserved and that the computer will not be forced to shut down due to no power if the car battery went completely.
