Dial Up Isn’t Dead - In Fact PCDialUp Launched to Serve a New Niche

Many of us stopped using dial-up sometime ago.  Dial-up became something that we were very happy to forget about.  On occasion though reality hits us many of us turn to dial-up as a backup when were either traveling need phone access or when our broadband connection goes down.  Redundancy is the name of the game for mobile warriors.

However for 40% of Web surfers dial-up is still an everyday and regular tool that they use.  The new service called PCDialup.com has just launched and offers people and dial-up access for $3.95 per month.  They’re hoping to cash in on the niche of customers that still use dial-up regularly and possibly provide a cheap and reliable way for mobile warriors to keep her redundancy option available.

For those of you that don’t recall, dial-up started getting a little faster when more and more software compression programs were brought to the market to help speed things up.  PCDialup does offer one of these solutions, for an extra dollar a month you can utilize their software to help speed up your perceived connection speeds.  Their Excel or it or can decrease load up speeds by about 1/7.

Personally, I’ve used several dial-up connections over the last few years, keeping a service on standby for cause of parsley $10-$14 a month as I didn’t want to go with an ad served or spyware type of dial-up service.  However 395 to 495 a month does look much more attractive, and I’ll keep an eye on this company as they currently don’t serve dial up in my area just outside Atlanta.  (Area code 770)
