Web 2.0 Travel Applications

Web 2.0 applications are appearing so fast these days, along with mashups that fuel web 3.0, that it’s hard to keep track of them. Imagine my surprise when I find out that there are numerous travel-related Web 2.0 apps. Surprise because I recently took up ghostwriting in the travel niche, and because I’ve written several Web 2.0 articles (all over) and not come across many besides maps. (Although I follow a fairly strict definition of what qualifies as a Web 2.0 application.)

At any rate, I came across The Geek’s Travel Guide at Vroom Vroom Vroom, which lists 25 online applications for road trip planning. Not all of these are Web 2.0 apps, but there are a number of them. There’s the now common Google Maps, a number of trip-related search engines and social networks (such as for ride sharing and parking), radio-locators, meeting schedulers, trip advisors and navigators, and loads more.

If you’re planning a road trip this year, this is an article worth checking out, and some of the apps will even work from your smartphone.

One smashing comment for this post.
