Vonage Makes It Cheap to Phone Home

With the commercials bombarding the television airwaves, Vonage should be something everyone understands. Even my small children know the tune to the commercials. Say the term VOIP, and you’ll find out quickly how little everyone really knows.

Vonage is a form of Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Basically, it is using the internet to make calls. The existing network systems make it possible for subscribers to make phone calls (using their computers) for free – or in some cases a small fee. For only $24.99 per month, a subscriber gets unlimited local and long distance calling for 0¢ per minute at the Vonage web site.

The price may be right, but Vonage still has its critics. Because Vonage uses public networks to route phone calls made on its service, the quality of the calls are not always very good. Some say that is just not right. Vonage seems to be leaning towards the idea that you get what you pay for.
