Cell Phone Stalking

How safe is your cell phone?

Three Washington state families have been reporting harassing phone calls over their cell phones. They say that the callers know what the family is wearing and doing.  The callers are able to leave messages that include private conversations the family has had in the home - even conversations with police. The families say the callers are accessing the information - address books and such - that is stored on the cell phones.

The cell phone companies - especially Sprint, who is the current provider for the families - say this is all impossible. Some experts say that it is not very likely.

The problem is that it is all very possible. There are programs just a download away that will allow outsiders to use your phone’s microphone to listen in even if the phone itself appears to be off. Big Brother is not just watching, now he’s listening as well.
