E-paper Not Just Science Fiction
For many people, a paperless world is one they will never embrace. Something as bizarre as e-paper is too science fiction to think about.
These are the people that have had to be pushed over the edge of the technology cliff. They have held on to paper checks. They have held on to paper statements. They held on to what they knew and refused to look to what might be. Change is bad.
Change is coming. E-paper will make sure of that. Scientist are hard at work to create paper that’s not really paper. This electronic paper is actually a display that looks like ordinary paper in its appearance. It can even be crumpled or bent like traditional paper, although I’m not sure why this would be necessary. It’s not like you are going to throw it away.
Although e-paper is not new (it first began being discussed in 2001) it is now beyond the conceptual stage. The first products are beginning to hit the market.

It was discussed long before 2001, but the nanotechnology necessary to make it reality is pretty much only part of this decade.
