Cell Phones Are Conquering the World

Cell phones are taking over the world.  With the use of NFC technology, Near Field Communication, phones can be used as keys, money, tickets, and many other applications.

Basically, the information needed is transferred over a short field (usually about a hands width) and the phone can then be used as an electronic key to open a hotel door, or like a debit card so a charge can be made, or in place of a paper ticket.

The use of NFC for payments is already in place in many countries.  The United States is a bit slower in implementing the technology.

Using technology may make payments easier, but it also tends to give users the license to spend more.  Electronic spending is higher because users are not as aware of what they are spending.
