IPTV Benefits from AT&T’s FCC Agreement

IPTV is working its way into mainstream usage.  That means more options for most subscribers.  The only down fall is that without a high speed connection, you will never enjoy the benefits of IPTV.

As the use of the technology continues to spread, and giants like AT&T delve deeper into the market, the possibilities of IPTV continue to expand.  AT&T has recently announced that it will be utilizing Sun Microsystems servers to power U-Verse.  Other companies are also working to find their niche in this promising market.

With the recent acquisition of BellSouth, AT&T promised to have broadband available to all its customers by the end of 2007.  If this holds true, than the expansion of IPTV should not be far behind.  The technology of Internet Protocol TV gives the user more control of what and how programs are viewed.  It also gives advertisers a target audience, making the ad money more successful.

Unfortunately, the company has proven more than once that it is more concerned about the bottom line than it is about its customers.  The compliance of AT&T’s FCC agreements is far from being accomplished.  It will be interesting to see if it will be allowed to slip by like other, smaller companies have in the past.
