Google Testing Adsense for Mobile
Google seems very eager to penetrate the mobile industry. After acquiring GrandCentral Communications, it is now developing Adsense for Mobile. The Mountain View-based company has invited several mobile Web site developers to test Adsense display on their sites and gather feedback before finalizing product development.
Currently in limited beta version, this platform enables publishers to display ads on mobile-optimized Web sites. In order for these sites to work effectively, they must be in WML (Wireless Markup Language), XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) or CHTML (Compact HTML) format. It is important that Google’s crawlers must read the page to deliver relevant ads.
“Mobile advertising is a huge opportunity for us starting with the basic premise that there are something like 3 billion or so handsets in the world,” said Dilip Venkatachari, director of product management responsible for mobile monetization efforts at Google, in a recent interview.
