What Blogging Client Should You Use?

If, after having read through this series of webpages on blogging, you decide to go ahead and start a blog or three, you'll need a simple way to write and post blog entries. Your choices for a blogging client are many, but may depend on the blogging platform you are using.

All blogging platforms come with their own web browser-based interface (client), but some are awkward to use. There are also desktop clients that function as a standalone piece of software on your desktop/laptop computer, and which are tightly-coupled with one or more blogging platforms. Examples are W. Bloggar, LochJournal, Qumana, and Zoundry's BlogWriter. I personally prefer the latter, as it most suits my blogging needs and style, integrates well with many of the top blogging platforms, is easy to use, and has a free version.

Another option is to use a familiar word processing program with a plugin. Blogger.com has released a plugin for Microsoft Word, but it only works with the Blogger.com platform. I am not currently aware of any other similar plugins for other word processing packages.

Of course, If none of these options suit you, you can either study the API (Application Programmer Interface) of your blogging platform and write your own client software, or hire someone to do it for you.

Hopefully you've gained some insight into blogging and the blogosphere. If you already have some blogging experience under your belt, don't forget to check out our BlogSpinner V2.0 blog.

Note: This set of web pages is part of a large group called the Blogging Resource Guide, which will be available over on BlogSpinner V2.0 in the near future.
